A Malibu Cliffside Wedding
Savannah and Max’s day was nothing short of perfect . The Wedding day was set on a cliffside in Malibu where ocean views are on the right, mountain views on the left, and the sun sets over the Pacific Ocean. The details and tablescapes tied into the natural elements of this venue, creating an overall bright and coastal feel for this wedding day. One of Savannah and Max’s main priorities was to be intentional on their wedding day, spending as much time together and soaking up every part of their day.
Something Sav and Max did that I loved was joining cocktail hour before it was over! They wanted to spend time with each of their guests before dinner was served, and dancing began! Before their ceremony they shared an intimate first look and exchanged private vows. By doing this we were able to take family photos and bridal party photos before the ceremony, freeing up more time after the ceremony for Newlywed photos, and joining cocktail hour.
This was one of my first travel weddings as a photographer. To be brought along to capture such a beautiful and intimate day is always such a privilege. As a documentary style photographer, I want my couples to look at their galleries and remember the feeling of their wedding day. The butterflies and anticipation. The smell of your wedding bouquet and perfume you chose to put on. The happy tears your parents can’t stop from slipping out. The ache of your cheeks from smiling all day. My goal is to capture every detail of the day, big or small, so when you look back at your photos you can relive your wedding day all over again. I love for my couples to feel present and soak it all in because after all the day flies by.
As the sun began to set over the Pacific Ocean, family and friends came up to share a toast to the Newlyweds. The sound of laughter over the memories shared, and the clinking of glasses raising a toast echoed over this cliffside. Dancing followed for the rest of the night, and Savannah slipped into a special reception dress! She had taken her Moms wedding dress to be repurposed into something she could dance the night away in, and of course to surprise her Mom with. The night came to an end with a classic bubble exit and all their closest family and friends sending them off. This was one of those days where you just feel the joy radiating. Savannah and Max were such a sweet and intentional couple, & capturing their stunning wedding day was so much fun. I would love to capture another California wedding sometime soon.
